OneWorld Roller Derby is a community designed for growth and inclusiveness.Our members range from people wanting exercise to top notch athletes, and there is a place here for all levels of participation, as well as continual opportunity to change your intention along the way. We believe that life is about helping one another through the pack, which is not limited to Roller Derby.We save the posturing for our opponents. Our skaters believe that a team is only AS STRONG AS IT'S WEAKEST SKATER and the "pay it forward" mentoring mindset is held as our hightest value. Our leagues are built on encouragment, determination and support. Skaters who enjoy bullying or intimidating their own team or league mates are encouraged to step up and find a better way to promotes growth and strength. New skaters understand that advanced skaters work very hard to achieve their skills and they too must work hard to grow. OWRD began in Seattle, WA in 2010 by Donna 'The Hot Flash' Kay (left) who, after having the opportunity to skate with Rat City Roller Girls and again with Seattle's banked track league The Tilted Thunder Rail Birds, saw a need for accessibility to the sport of roller derby for people wanting to participate in the sport but not necessarily have the time or resources to become involved in a private league. On March 6th, 2011 Seattle Roller Derby began by teaching skaters through the Seattle Parks and Recreation in the city's first roller derby class. Later that same month Bellevue Roller Derby started at Bellevue Skate King. Skaters Bea F. Our special blend of awesomeness is in Seattle and on the East Side and we've been working hard to prepare skaters who displayed amazing athleticism at our first game on Jan 29th 2012. OneWorld Roller Derby is part of the Old School Derby Association amateur division. By working together with OSDA and USA Roller Sports we will increase the accessibility of roller derby as an inclusive sport. Teaching skills to skaters wishing to become roller derby athletes, and / or anyone wishing to improve their lives by becoming stronger is our mission.
